At What Point Do I Need To I Take My Kitten to Visit a Cat Doctor?

One of the biggest mistakes new feline owners make isn’t visiting the veterinarian for a routinephysical check-up.  Many of us are under the impression that the one reason they have to see a vet is when the feline is ill or wounded.  Sadly this misconception can be negative to the healthiness of your pet.  Proper care for your kitty entails more than food, water and a clean litter box.

As with kids there are many sicknesses that can be prevented by getting proper vaccination shots.  Most vets recommend that cats get them right after they are born.  These vaccinations can shield your kitten from heartworm, FIV and other sicknesses that can negatively affect the healthiness of your feline.  During your visit your vet will cover in detail the suggested vaccination schedule.  The vaccines your physician recommends will be based totally on whether the cat will be kept inside or out of doors.  Also whether other pets are kept in the house is a factor.  By giving your vet this info they’re going to be able to administer the right vaccines to give your kitten the best protection.

Even if your cat is an indoor kitty it is smart to keep up with a yearly visit to the vet.  This will help you keep watch on your pets health as well as uncover any issues in advance and also get the correct booster vaccines administered.

Another sound excuse to take your kitten in for routine checks is that you may not know that there are a few things wrong with your cat, but your veterinarian is trained and can discover if there are any possible difficulties.  Also if you have been taking your kitten to them for a while, they’ll have your kittens complete history, and most will know your cat and will recognize if something appears to be different on that particular visit.  Assist your vet during your felines examination examination by noting any changes that you could have noted in your pussy since the last visit.  You may not think that it is unusual or that there’s not anything wrong with your moggy, but it’ll help in deciding your feline’s general fitness.  Any changes in your feline may not mean anything, but it is often good to keep your veterinarian informed of changes as they can scribble it down for any future reference in case something does arise and wishes attention.

There may be a point when you’ll need to line up an appointment veterinarian before it is time for the subsequent booked check-up for boosters.  There are still diseases that the boosters don’t stop, so take your feline friend in for a special visit.  There also will be other issues that although not life-endangering, shouldn’t be ignored, that you will wish to take a look at your kitten for,eg fleas and ticks.  Our kittens get treated for fleas when they need it.  I did not have to before, but we probably did bring a dog into the family and with him came fleas.  So we do treat each one of them or fleas, and I get a favored flea treatment from my veterinarian.

It is vital for yourfeline’s health and well being that you make routine appointments with the vet to get their booster shots and an overall check.  It’ll keep them healthy and ecstatic, and they’ll reward you with lots of love.
